The Casper Swim Team will be sending 24 swimmers to the Summer State Meet in Gillette, WY on July 24, 25, and 26, 2009. These swimmers have been training since the season started in April and this is the culminating event for the summer season. The swimmers will range in age from 8 years old to 18 years old. They will be swimming all events which include the freestyle, butterfly, breaststroke, and backstroke along with various relays.
There will be over 200 swimmers competing at the Wyoming Swimming Summer State in Gillette. The meet is held at the 50 meter pool which is the same size as the pool used at the Olympics. Distance per event will be between 50 meters and 1,500 meters. Gillette has one of the few 50 meter pools in Wyoming.
After the Summer State Meet 6 swimmers will be headed to Honolulu, Hawaii for the Western Zones Swim Meet. This is a week long competition amongst 13 western states. The 6 swimmers include Stephanie Goddard (18), Jason Baker (17), Casey Keith (15), Collin Baldacci (14), Julie Schmitt (14), and Lliana Jones (12). They will be joining 32 other swimmers from Wyoming. These swimmers had to accomplish qualifying times in order to be able to compete at this level.
The Casper Swim Team is part of Wyoming Swimming, Inc. which is part of USA Swimming. The Casper Swim Team is open to all ages 8 and older. If you are interested in joining please contact me at 307-265-0200.
